Alcohol-free VRS Sober

You don’t have to be an alcoholic to not drink alcohol! HOOKED – Alcohol Free Travel has been morphing over the last 2 years. We have been taking note of who joins our groups and what they are saying. 50% of our clients simply don’t drink alcohol (in the 50% – some are sober curious, some just taking a break) and 50% are on a recovery journey. A portion of those on the recovery journey value their anonymity and did not like idea of being involved on a sober travel tour with photos being posted etc. But ALL participants like the the idea of being involved with an alcohol-free tour company. Alcohol-free sings clean living and health conscious while sober has a recovery stigma attached to it. Over the last 6 months we have been slowly removing the word sober from our conversations and focusing on alcohol-free.

HOOKED is an alcohol-free travel company! As the founder of HOOKED I 100% admit I would not be where I am today without the help of AA at the beginning stages of my journey, but I identity as being alcohol-free. This is our space. There are wonderful sober tour companies with roots in recovery, some even have meetings. Participants on these tours rave about their experiences. HOOKED may not be for everyone. We encourage our guests to travel everywhere. This year we went to Nashville and Italy. Nashville is known as a big party town and Italy is known for wine at every corner. We sourced out mocktails everywhere we went and talked to locals for creative night time entertainment options. Heck, in Nashville we did an alcohol-free spirit tasting at an alcohol-free bottle shop, went to a Honky Tonk and line danced! Never once did we feel like we did not belong in the so called ‘party town’ why would we; we had each other!

The like mindedness of the group no matter what their reason for not drinking is enough to build strong bonds amongst travelers. For travelers who are alcohol-free, love a good mocktail, like to get around and see and experience various destinations while feeling included wherever they go we are an excellent option.
